US Military publishes a list of new generation weapons to offer Ukraine support in the fight against Russia.

Published:

The US military head in Europe, Gen. Chris Cavoli, has named several sophisticated equipment that can significantly boost Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Despite request from Kiev, the Biden administration has not yet supplied these systems, that include air to surface missiles, and the Link 16 that is a secure communication network of NATO. These capabilities are described in the annex, which was included in a classified report sent to Congress last month, several sources said.
Some of the systems which Ukraine has sought include the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile, an air-launched cruise missile, and the Link 16 system that improves organization in air and missile defense. However, they have probably ceased due to apprehensions over the transfer of delicate US technologies into Russian possession. Second, the air-to-surface missiles presuppose air supremacy, which Ukraine has not seized yet, thus, the missiles are rather useful in the mid- and long-term perspective.
The conflict still continues in Ukraine has also asked its ally the United States to allow it to use long-range missile systems to target inside Russia. Recently during a meeting, President Volodymyr Zelensky handed over a list of possible Russian targets to President Joe Biden. While Biden was not entirely dismissive of this philosophy, he avoided making any draconian call to remove limitations on these arms.
As the US presidential campaign approaches, the future of military assistance to Ukraine is questionable. Nevertheless, US officials are trying to guarantee that Ukraine gets enough aid through 2025. They include searching for private American contractors that will help sustain the Ukrainian military equipment as well as offering long-term support through NATO channels.
Russia may consider mobilizing more soldiers to the battle front lines since it has continued to record massive losses. Also, there are signs that western restrictions are beginning to impact the Russian economy, which may reveal signs of stress by the end of 2024. CIA chief Bill Burns stressed that the further support for Ukraine is critical for the war outcome.
However, the critics downplay on the fact that the US strategy and ways to winning the war in Ukraine still remains obscure and the very classified report, the goal is solely identified as Ukraine’s self-determination and sovereignty with no measurable parameters attached to it. For now, the conflict is still dynamic; Russia advances slowly in the east while Ukraine controls territory inside Russia.
