AGCAE Graduate Scholarships are available to eligible applicants from all around Africa through the Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) in South Africa. Applications for the Centre’s fully supported master’s and doctorate research programs are now being accepted.
Among the scholarships are:
scholarships for full-time doctorates for up to R250,000 annually for a maximum of three years.
R150,000 annual full-time master’s scholarships are available for a maximum of two years.
Located under the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences’ School of Public Leadership (SPL), the AGCAE seeks to improve community well-being by promoting the growth of entrepreneurial ecosystems in Africa through data-driven and dialogue-driven approaches.
For master’s and doctorate students, the scholarships offer money ranging from R150,000 to R250,000, with the goal of promoting entrepreneurship-led development in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must fulfil the prerequisites for admission to Stellenbosch University’s PhD program, which include having a master’s degree in a pertinent discipline.
- The minimum requirements for admission to a Stellenbosch University Master’s program include having an honours degree in a relevant discipline.
- Both South African citizens and international nationals of African descent are eligible for the scholarships; however, prioritisation will be given to those who have been disadvantaged in the past.
- In order to qualify for the AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships, candidates need to have completed their master’s degree with a minimum grade of 70%.
- In order to qualify for the AGCAE Master’s Scholarships, applicants must have completed their honours programs with a minimum grade of 70%.
- Only those applications that fit into one of the AGCAE’s research subjects will be taken into consideration.

- AGCAE PhD fellowships: Three-year, full-time PhD fellowships of R250,000 annually.
