Through the Emory University Scholar Programs, Emory University provides full or partial merit-based scholarships. Beyond merit scholarships, the Emory Scholar Programs offer students the tools and assistance they need to realize their full potential and leave a lasting impression on the school, Atlanta, and the wider community. Undergraduate scholarships offered by Emory University give students the tools and encouragement they need to realize their full potential and make an impact not only at Emory but also in Atlanta and beyond.

Emory University, named for Bishop John Emory, was established in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church and is the second-oldest private university in Georgia. Emory College, Oxford College, Goizueta Business School, and schools of law, medicine, nursing, public health, and theology are among its nine academic departments.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The Office of Admission oversees the selection process for merit-based scholar programs in conjunction with distinguished professors.
  • Approximately 8,000–10,000 students apply each year, of whom 175–200 are selected as Scholar Finalists.
  • Finalists are required to come for a spring on-campus visit; Emory University will pay for their transportation.
  • Aside from interviews and activities, the multi-day tour helps finalists learn more about Emory and its possibilities.
  • Even if they are not chosen as finalists, applications are nevertheless evaluated for admission and given consideration for lesser merit grants.
  • Financial aid and the selection of scholars are two different processes; merit scholarships are given out first, and then, if necessary, need-based aid.
