The German Academic Exchange Service’s (DAAD) EPOS funding program is extended to a limited number of international postgraduate programs, including the United Nations University Scholarships, Joint Master’s Program. The World Institute for Development Economics Research at the United Nations University provides policy recommendations and economic research to support just and sustainable development around the world. This was the United Nations University’s first research center, founded more than 30 years ago in Helsinki, Finland.
The Department of Geography at the University of Bonn and the United Nations University successfully collaborated to create this master’s program. With assistance from DAAD, it makes a substantial contribution to the University of Bonn’s internationalisation.
With the UNU Scholarship Joint M.Sc. Program, postgraduate students can address environmental risks and human security using an interdisciplinary approach by gaining in-depth information, critical insight, and the essential strategies and tools.
Together with the ZEF Doctoral Studies program and the ARTS program provided by the University of Bonn’s Faculty of Agriculture, this program is the third at Bonn to be funded by the German Academic Development Agency (DAAD).

Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidate from Developing Country: Must belong to a “Developing Country” as defined by the DAAD.
- Work Experience: Must have two years or more of relevant practical work experience in a field related to the study program, such as in the private, public, or non-profit sectors.
- Recent Graduate: The candidate must have acquired a Bachelor’s degree within the last five years.
- No Previous Master’s Degree: You shouldn’t have earned a Master’s degree in a related field of study before.
- Career Focus: The goal must be to pursue a practitioner career in a subject relevant to the course of study.

- Complete Financial Support for Study Expenses: Selected candidates will be granted full financial assistance, which will take care of all expenses directly related to the study program, such as books, tuition, and other educational charges.
- Living expenses in Bonn: In order to guarantee the recipient’s financial stability during their studies, the scholarship will also cover the cost of living in Bonn, including housing, food, and personal expenses.
