The fully financed WASCAL Scholarship is available to qualified African nations through a collaboration between the German Government and the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL). This scholarship offers the chance to study in Germany and at colleges in West Africa. It covers all tuition costs, monthly stipends, housing, and round-trip airfare.
Applications for WASCAL’s Master’s and PhD programs in Climate Change for the 2025–2026 academic year are now officially open. Students from 12 West African nations are eligible to apply for the award, which will help the region’s future climate leaders grow.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Candidates must be nationals of one of the following WASCAL member nations: Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, or Benin.
- Depending on availability, candidates from other ECOWAS member nations may apply as self-funded students.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, second class upper division, or its equivalent, is required.
- Candidates must speak English at least at an intermediate level.
