The JIAS Writing Fellowship 2025, a fully supported three-month residency program in Johannesburg, South Africa, is currently accepting applications. There is no application cost for this fellowship, which is run by the University of Johannesburg’s Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS).
The 2025 JIAS Writing Fellowship’s theme is “Global Blackness,” which highlights the varied Blackness experiences, theories, and intellectual traditions found in different places and situations. Scholars, practitioners, and leaders are eligible to apply for the fellowship, which will run from April 1 to June 30, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria :
- Candidates need to be PhD holders.
- should display a solid track record of research or creativity through projects, publications, or exhibitions.
- Global South candidates will be given preference.
- Women and applicants of color who identify as gender nonconforming will be given preference.
