Eligibility Criteria:
- Criteria for CSC Eligibility:
- Candidates must fulfill the requirements established by the China Scholarship Council.
- Start of Study:
- In either September 2025 or January 2026, candidates should start their academic careers at Sussex.
- Status of Residence and Nationality:
- Candidates must be People’s Republic of China residents who are either studying overseas or living in China permanently. Those who work abroad are not eligible.
- Status of International Fee-Paying:
- For tuition considerations, applicants must be categorized as international Chinese students.
- Proficiency in the English Language:
- The University of Sussex’s English language requirements, especially for the Arts and Humanities, must be met by applicants. Candidates who have a conditional PhD offer based only on their undergraduate or graduate performance are welcome to apply; however, those who have English proficiency requirements are not.
- Academic prerequisites:
- Candidates in the arts, humanities, and social sciences must have a master’s degree and a first-class honors degree from the UK or anticipate having one by September 2025 or January 2026.
- A first-class honors degree is necessary for science and engineering, ideally combined with an appropriate postgraduate degree, like a master’s.
