Eligibility Criteria:

  • Non-Chinese Citizens: Candidates must be in good physical and mental health and possess a valid foreign passport.
  • Academic Requirement: Applicants must have a Master’s degree or be in their final year of study to be eligible. The official degree must be presented prior to enrollment; however, an anticipated graduation certificate may be submitted first.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be under 40 when they submit their applications.
  • Needs for Language Proficiency:
  • Programs taught in China include HSK 4 (Science & Engineering) with a minimum score of 180 and HSK 5 (Liberal Arts, Medicine, Arts) with a minimum score of 180.
  • Programs taught in English: Proof of English competence (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent) is necessary.
  • Exemptions: Language certification may not apply to native speakers of Chinese or English.

  • Municipal and provincial scholarships:
  • The annual award for the Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship is RMB 30,000.
  • Scholarship from Shenzhen University: 40,000 RMB year.
  • The fully funded Liyuan International Scholarship:
  • First Class: living allowance of 6,000 RMB per month plus tuition waiver.
  • Second Class: Living allowance of 5,000 RMB per month with tuition waiver.
  • Third Class: Living allowance of 4,000 RMB per month plus tuition waiver.
  • Research Funding: An annual grant of 12,000 RMB is given by supervisors for conferences and scholarly research.
  • Scholarship Period: The first extended year of study is eligible for scholarships; however, the second extended year is not.
