In addition to providing full tuition fees, an annual living allowance of $38,500, and a $3,000 relocation grant for selected candidates, the University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships offer financial support to both domestic and international students based on academic merit. Since 2016, the Melbourne International Research Scholarship (MIRS) has been a part of the Melbourne Research Scholarship program. The University of Melbourne awards over 300 scholarships to international students annually for graduate research degrees.

- Candidates must be enrolled in or have applied for and met the requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne. Both Australian citizens and foreign students are eligible for the scholarship.

Benefits :
- The following benefits are offered: a relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from other Australian states or territories (excluding Victoria) and $3,000 for those relocating from outside Australia; an annual living allowance of $38,500 (2024 full-time study rate) for up to two years for Master’s by Research students and up to 3.5 years for doctoral students; and overseas student health coverage (OSHC) – Single Membership for international students who need a student visa to study in Australia.
