University of Basel URIS Fellowships 2026 Switzerland (Fully Funded)

The esteemed URIS Fellowships 2026 are now being accepted by the University of Basel through its Ukrainian Research in Switzerland (URIS) project. Researchers who specialize in Ukrainian studies have a fantastic opportunity to spend six months at one of Switzerland’s best universities thanks to these grants.

Applications for a six-month research and teaching fellowship at the University of Basel are being accepted by the URIS project. The fellowships will be offered in the spring semester (January–June 2026) or the autumn semester (July–December 2026).

This project is to improve international research networks centered on Ukraine, foster the next generation of researchers, and bolster Ukrainian knowledge in Switzerland. In addition to regular events like Ukrainian language classes, public talks, academic events, and workshops, URIS accomplishes these goals through the research and teaching activities of its fellows.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The program is looking for globally renowned scholars who are ready to teach a course at the University of Basel about Ukraine and interact with the Swiss-Ukraine research network.
  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate (with distinction) in the social sciences, humanities, or cultural studies. Scholars with and without experience are welcome to apply.
  • In the spring or fall semester of 2026, candidates should be prepared to teach a one-semester course (1.5 hours per week) in either English or German at the University of Basel. They should also have prior experience teaching at a university.
  • Candidates must be engaged in an ongoing research project that makes a substantial contribution to a better knowledge of the politics, society, history, and culture of Ukraine.
