For undergraduate (S1), master’s (S2), and doctorate (PhD/S3) studies at some of Japan’s top universities, such as Kyoto University, Osaka University, Ritsumeikan University, and Kwansei Gakuin University, this esteemed award provides substantial financial support.
Funding for tuition and living expenses will be provided to scholars, who will also have the chance to learn in a reputable academic setting around the world. Beyond the classroom, the scholarship promotes educational and cultural exchange between Indonesia and Japan, giving scholars the opportunity to get a firsthand look at Japanese culture and create enduring global relationships.

Eligibility Criteria:
- must be an Indonesian citizen.
- A graduate of UNAIR, UI, ITB, or UGM is required.
- Attend Kyoto University, Osaka University, Ritsumeikan University, Kwansei Gakuin University, or connected partner institutions to pursue undergraduate (S1), graduate (S2), or doctoral (S3) studies.
- must be paying for their education at the selected Japanese university on their own.
- Obtain the required minimum GPA.
- 3.0 for applicants who are undergraduates
- 3.5 for candidates for master’s degrees
- Show that you are in dire need of money.
- Demonstrate fluency in Japanese or a strong desire to pick it up.
- Show a sincere interest in Japanese culture and a dedication to improving ties between Japan and Indonesia.
Benefits:
- A stipend of ¥130,000 per month is provided to cover living expenses.
- ¥150,000 for one-time travel and setup upon arrival.
- Duration of the program:
- For master’s programs, up to two years
- For PhD programs, up to three years
- Every three months, or quarterly, funds are distributed.
- To apply, there is no application fee needed.
