Excellent Brains Austria Neuroscience PhD Fellowships 2025 (Fully Funded)

A fully financed four-year PhD program on GABAergic cells, which are crucial parts of brain circuits implicated in disorders including schizophrenia, autism, and epilepsy, is available through Austria’s Excellent Brains PhD Program. Selected students can immerse themselves in cutting-edge neuroscience research through this esteemed program, which also offers multidisciplinary workshops, job training, and soft skill development.

Students will participate in journal clubs, lab rotations at prestigious universities, collaborative seminars, and one-on-one mentoring from globally recognized scientists as part of the program. Eligibility Criteria:

  • A master’s degree or its equivalent in neuroscience, biology, genetics, physiology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, psychology, or medicine must be held by October 31, 2025.
  • As long as they have a keen interest in neuroscience, candidates with backgrounds in computer science, artificial intelligence, physics, mathematics, or machine learning are also encouraged.
  • Research experience in a pertinent scientific field is required.
  • Two academic references, including one from their master’s thesis supervisor, must be provided.
  • The application must be completed and submitted by July 10, 2025.
  • Strong English ability is expected; no language certification is necessary.
  • Candidates having degrees from non-European countries are required to mention their GPA on their application.
