The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Italian Government (MAECI) Scholarship for the 2025/26 academic year. This prestigious scholarship is available to foreign students as well as Italian citizens residing abroad who wish to pursue master’s and PhD degrees or enroll in higher education programs in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) at public or legally recognized universities in Italy.
Eligible applicants come from 141 different countries, and the primary objective of the scholarship is to offer financial assistance to students who may not otherwise have the means to study in Italy. The MAECI Scholarship supports four main areas of study: master’s degree programs, AFAM courses, PhD programs, and academic research projects conducted under university supervision.
Importantly, there is no application fee required to apply for this scholarship, making it more accessible to all qualified candidates. Further details on eligibility criteria and application procedures are available below.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to citizens of 141 qualifying countries.
- Bachelor’s degree completion is a prerequisite for admission to master’s degree programs.
- When applying for a master’s program, a candidate must be at least 28 years old.
- PhD program applicants must be under 30 years old at the time of application.
- Proof of English language proficiency must be presented, either via the IELTS or an equivalent language certificate, such as an English proficiency letter from a university.

- health, medical, and accident insurance coverage throughout the study period.
- a €9,000 grant in total, paid out in three installments:
- Initial payment: €4,500
- €2,500 is the second installment.
- €2,000 is the third and last installment.
