The 2025 Special Scholarship Program (SSP) at Kochi University of Technology (KUT) in Japan is now accepting applications. This esteemed program offers postgraduate students, both Japanese and foreign, financial assistance of ¥1,165,800 (about \$7,341).
KUT offers a number of entry scholarships, including the SSP, to entice exceptional overseas students. It is intended to give participants the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects while they are enrolled in academic courses.
Applicants may come from East Asia, Southeast and South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Africa. To date, the program has graduated more than 200 students, encouraging international academic cooperation and creativity.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Obtain the supervisor’s approval for the selected Special Scholarship Program (SSP) project.
- After completing eighteen years of formal education at an approved school, one must possess, or is expected to possess before to enrollment, a master’s degree or its equivalent.
- be under the age of thirty-five when they enroll.
- possess a solid academic foundation, having excelled in both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from reputable colleges.
- Exhibit a strong sense of drive, pertinent expertise, and suitable research skills in line with the chosen project.
- Show that you are proficient in English (e.g., TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, or CET6).

Benefits :
- Enrollment fee (¥300,000), entrance exam fee (¥30,000), and annual tuition (¥535,800) are waived as part of full tuition coverage.
- Receive ¥150,000 a month as a research stipend in exchange for taking part in research initiatives (subject to applicable taxes).
- Support for Travel and Settlement: For foreign students living outside of Japan, a one-time payment of ¥150,000 is provided to assist with travel and living expenses (applicable for those entering with a “Student” visa).
