- Proven Impact: Initiatives or campaigns must be in line with the 2025 prize categories and show quantifiable outcomes from the previous three years.
- Project Status: Initiatives in the planning or conceptual stages will not be taken into consideration; only fully executed projects are eligible.
- Limitations on Eligibility: National governments or UN organizations may only be eligible for honorable mentions; they are not eligible for the main awards.
- Recurring Applications: Previous UN SDG Action Award finalists and winners are not permitted to reapply.
