IWM Digital Humanism Fellowship 2026 in Austria (Fully Funded)

The Austrian Digital Humanism Fellowship for 2026 is now accepting applications. International researchers have the chance to carry out research at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna through this esteemed, fully supported program. The fellowship, which is sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility, and Infrastructure, encourages candidates from various academic fields to investigate the effects of digitalization.

Early-career academics are especially encouraged by the program to look at how digital technologies are changing society, the global economy, power dynamics, and more general human and social issues. The fellowship offers full support, including lodging, health insurance, travel costs, and a monthly stipend; there is no application fee.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Nationality: There are no regional restrictions and applications of any nationality are welcome.
  • Candidates for the Junior Visiting Fellowship must be enrolled in or have finished their doctoral studies within four years of the application deadline.
  • Senior Visiting Fellowships: Available only upon request.
  • Candidates who successfully completed their doctoral defense before the application deadline are known as postdoctoral candidates.

Benefits :

  • Postdoctoral Candidates (PhD holders): €3,300 per month
  • Doctoral Candidates (currently enrolled in a PhD program): €2,750 per month
  • Note: The stipend is intended to cover accommodation, living expenses, travel, health insurance, weekday lunches, office space, and other incidental costs.
