NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship 2026 in Netherlands (Fully Funded)

The NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship 2026 in the Netherlands is now accepting applications. Candidates from all across the world are eligible for this fully financed opportunity. The five-month fellowship, which is offered by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) in the Humanities and Social Sciences, will be held at NIAS in Amsterdam from September to January or February to June 2026.

Scholars, artists, writers, and journalists who are unable to operate safely in their native countries because of war, conflict, or threats to their freedom are supported by the NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship. It offers temporary relocation, allowing people to carry on working in a safe and encouraging setting. More information is given below.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Open to candidates of all nationalities.
  • For scientific proposals: Applicants must have a minimum of three years of research experience after completing their PhD at the time of application.
  • For artistic or journalistic proposals: A PhD or equivalent research experience is not required.
  • The proposed project must be within the fields of humanities or social sciences.
  • A strong command of the English language is essential.
  • Fellows must be physically present at NIAS four days a week during the fellowship period.

Netherlands is the host nation.
