The Rhodes West Africa Scholarship 2026, a distinguished and completely supported opportunity for talented people to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Oxford, is currently accepting applications. This scholarship, which is run by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, covers tuition, living expenses, housing, and flights. The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and most prestigious international scholarship program in the world, having been established in 1903. Oxford offers 100 fully supported scholarships for postgraduate study each year. The program looks for young leaders with exceptional intelligence and moral qualities who are dedicated to helping others, prepared to take on global issues, and have the capacity to grow into future leaders with values and influence.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Citizenship: You must be a citizen of one of the following countries: Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, Burkina Faso, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Principe, Togo, or Guinea.
- Residency: At least five of the previous ten years were spent in one of the aforementioned nations.
Age:
- Ages 18 to 24 on October 1, 2025
- OR 18–25 for the disciplines of medicine, law, and engineering
- OR less than 27 if the first degree was earned after October 1, 2024
- Academics: A First Class Honours degree or its equivalent is required.
- Medical Fields: At least three of the following must be distinguished: pathology, pharmacology, gynecology, medicine and surgery, or pediatrics.
- Admision to Oxford: More likely if you have an honors or master’s degree from a foreign nation.

Benefits :
- For the 2025–26 academic year, the annual stipend is £19,800 (approximately £1,650 per month) to cover all personal expenses, including accommodation.
- Note: This amount is not sufficient to support a spouse or dependents.
In addition, the Rhodes Trust also provides:
- The Oxford application fee
- Visa fees and the International Health Surcharge (IHS) for access to the UK’s National Health Service
- Two economy-class flights to and from the UK—one at the start and one at the end of the scholar’s time at Oxford
