Eikones has been a global center of excellence for studies on the theory and history of pictures since its establishment in 2005. The institute explores the historical functions and current significance of pictures as instruments of human cognition, communication, and cultural expression. Eligibility Criteria:
- A doctorate (Ph.D.) from an accredited university is required.
- A track record of successful research with either
- One academic work (dissertation, for example), or
- Three peer-reviewed papers that have been edited into volumes or published in respectable journals.
- must be conducting studies that examine how pictures function as models in artistic or scientific situations.
- Applications may be submitted in either German or English, but fluency in either language is required.
