Applications are now open for the DAAD PRIME Fellowship 2025/26 in Germany. This fully funded program offers international postdoctoral researchers a unique opportunity to carry out independent research at a German university.
The fellowship spans 18 months, comprising a 12-month research stay abroad followed by a mandatory 6-month reintegration phase at a German university. This structure is designed to support the fellow’s long-term integration into the German academic system.
Open to candidates worldwide, the PRIME Fellowship is intended for postdoctoral researchers aiming to establish a lasting research career in Germany. The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Eligibility Criteria :
- All Nationalities Are Welcome to Apply: Candidates may be from any nation.
- Doctorate Degree Requirement: Prior to the financing period beginning, a doctorate must have been satisfactorily completed. Those who are nearing the end of their PhD program are also eligible to apply.
- Eligibility Window: Candidates may apply for up to six years following the completion of their first PhD, with the exception of those who are responsible for providing care or are parents.

- Dedication to Germany: Candidates must have a sincere desire to establish a long-term academic career in Germany.
- Mobility Rule (Foreign Research Phase): You must have spent more than 12 months in your intended foreign host nation overall in the three years before the application deadline.
