Young African students, particularly those from low-income households, have the opportunity to receive a top-notch education and become community change agents through the University of Rwanda Mastercard Scholarship 2025–2026. It will assist 1,400 young Africans as part of the 10-year Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, with an emphasis on underrepresented populations such as women in STEM, refugees, displaced youth, and students with impairments. In addition to providing mentorship, counseling, and opportunities for community involvement, this fully funded scholarship covers tuition, living expenses, insurance, and educational materials. The program, which is open to African students of all genders and geographical locations, seeks to create transformative leaders who can promote change at the system, institutional, and individual levels. This is a transformative opportunity for qualified African refugees and Rwandan citizens.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Eligibility requirements include being a refugee, displaced youngster in Africa, or a citizen of Rwanda or any African nation.
- Academic Requirement: Candidates must have restricted access to educational opportunities yet be academically qualified.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be 28 years of age or younger.
Admission to the Program:
- must fulfill the requirements for admission to one of the University of Rwanda’s qualified programs.
- must have applied for admission to an appropriate program (see list) and possess a UR Reference Number.
- Leadership Commitment: Must exhibit the capacity for leadership and offer evidence of transformational initiatives or community involvement.
- Special Status Proof: Official evidence of status is required for refugees and people with disabilities.
