University of Rhode Island Scholarships in USA 2026 | Fully Funded

The University of Rhode Island is offering a fully funded Graduate Assistantship for qualified international students. This opportunity provides full funding for Master’s and PhD programs, covering tuition, an annual stipend of $43,000, and an additional $18,000 for summer expenses. Selected candidates will have the chance to pursue their studies in the United States.

This assistantship is available at the Ph.D. or M.Sc. level and focuses on researching the spatial and movement ecology of American Black Ducks in southern New England. The project continues a long-term collaboration between the university and state agencies aimed at understanding the interactions between shellfish aquaculture and waterfowl ecology in Rhode Island.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Be a hard-working, motivated, intelligent, and good-natured individual with a strong interest in waterfowl ecology and movement studies.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in animal/wildlife biology or ecology with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Possess field experience in waterfowl capture and handling, as well as boating skills (highly desirable).
  • Have proven experience in quantitative analysis and field research.

PhD applicants:

  • A completed relevant M.Sc. degree is strongly preferred.

  • Candidates with only a B.Sc. degree must demonstrate exceptional and relevant field experience to be considered.

M.Sc. applicants:

  • Must also demonstrate exceptional and relevant field experience.

Show the ability to work collaboratively and to supervise research assistants and undergraduate students during fieldwork.
