The University of Canberra in Australia is offering fully funded research scholarships for both domestic and international students to pursue graduate degrees. These scholarships cover full tuition fees and provide a living stipend of AUD $36,225 per year.
A limited number of University Research Scholarships are available to support highly qualified candidates undertaking full-time Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs. The Graduate Research Office oversees the application process for all applicants and manages scholarship administration throughout the study period.
Scholarship awards are granted by the University Research Scholarship Committee, which administers both the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarships and the UC Higher Degree by Research Stipend Scholarships for eligible domestic and international students.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Open to both international and domestic students (Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens)
- Must not have previously held an Australian Government-funded research scholarship for more than 6 months
Priority will be given to applicants who:
- Are admitted to a PhD with an Australian First-Class Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification/Recognised Prior Learning (e.g., Master’s by coursework with a research project comprising at least 25% of the course and a minimum result of 80)
- Are current PhD candidates who have successfully achieved Confirmation of Candidature and completed less than two years of enrolment (EFT) at the start of the semester
- Are selected and approved for the National Industry PhD Program – Industry Linked stream
- Are Indigenous Australian applicants admitted to a PhD
Australia is the host nation.

- International students who start their research abroad won’t get their stipend until they get to the University of Canberra’s Bruce campus onshore; they will get their money back when they get there.
