The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program 2026–2027 application period is now open, according to the U.S. Embassy in Moldova. Through this esteemed program, Moldovan professionals, researchers, and intellectuals can spend three to nine months conducting non-degree research in the United States.

For senior researchers, university instructors, and professionals with a doctorate (PhD) or comparable professional experience, the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program offers fully paid fellowships.The program enables participants to conduct academic research, take classes, and participate in professional development activities, but it does not grant a U.S. degree.

Eligibility Criteria:
- must be a Moldovan citizen and a long-term resident of the nation, including those who live in Transnistria.
- must promise to return to Moldova for at least two years following program completion and be eligible for a J-1 visa.
- A doctorate (PhD) or comparable professional/academic experience is required.
- A clear and workable research proposal in one of the program’s approved fields must be submitted.
- Strong English language skills are required for academic research, instruction, and teamwork.
- Prior to travel, a medical clearance is required.
- Clinical professionals (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, or any career involving direct patient care) are not eligible.
