The Centre for Universal Education (CUE) at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., is hosting the prestigious Visiting Fellowship, the Echidna Global Scholar Program 2026, and applications are now being accepted.
The goal of this six-month programme is to strengthen the leadership abilities of professionals who are dedicated to promoting gender equality in and through education throughout the Global South, especially those from developing nations.
Fellows will work in their home country for two months and then spend four months at Brookings in Washington, D.C., where they will conduct research, analyse policies, and further their careers.
Participants in the fellowship will carry out independent research aimed at enhancing life outcomes and educational possibilities for young women, girls, and people of all gender identities. Additionally, they will acquire a thorough awareness of gender concerns and global education.

Eligibility Criteria:
● All applications from the Global South are welcome.
● Education, gender studies, women’s studies, international development, public policy, economics, or allied social sciences/humanities subjects are required academic backgrounds.
● Professional experience of at least ten years is necessary.
● shown dedication to enhancing life possibilities and education for young women, girls, and people of all gender identities.
● Candidates have to have worked in the Global South for a considerable amount of time.
● It is required to have a master’s degree.
● As long as they indicate how they plan to include gender equality and education in their future professional activity, applicants who have never focused on these topics before are invited to submit.
Benefits:
- Stipend: A monthly stipend given for the duration of the program, subject to tax laws in the United States.
