The fellowship, which is an initiative of the Schlumberger Foundation, an independent non-profit organization committed to advancing gender equality in STEM, funds outstanding women from low- and middle-income countries to pursue advanced research studies overseas.
Since its launch in 2004, the Faculty for the Future initiative has supported a global network of female researchers, educators, and mentors who are revolutionizing science and education globally.

Eligibility Criteria:
- She must be a woman from a low- or middle-income nation (as the World Bank defines it).
- A PhD or postdoctoral study in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) should be pursued.
- must be enrolled at, accepted into, or have applied to a research institute or university outside of her nation of residence.
- should have a stellar academic record and a promising future in research.
- must show that she intends to return home after finishing her education in order to aid in her nation’s socioeconomic advancement.
- should demonstrate a demonstrated commitment to promoting women and girls in STEM, leadership abilities, and community involvement.
