Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must not be eligible for the Netherlands’ statutory tuition fees and possess a non-EU/EEA passport.
  • Candidates cannot be citizens of the Netherlands.
  • Strong academic performance is required, with a bachelor’s GPA equal to a Dutch 8.0/10.
  • should be accepted, either unconditionally or conditionally, into VU Amsterdam’s first year of a full-time master’s program taught in English, which begins in September 2026.
  • Eligibility is not available for joint degree programs or February intake programs if VU Amsterdam is not the admitting institution.
  • The applicant must have earned their bachelor’s degree outside of the Netherlands.
  • Before beginning their master’s studies, applicants must not need to enroll in any preparation courses.

Benefits:

  • VU Amsterdam offers one- or two-year master’s programs with full tuition reimbursement.
  • The NL Scholarship, which offers an extra €5,000 or €10,000 toward living expenses during the first year of study, is automatically awarded to applicants.
  • In addition to the VUFP, about 20 to 25 NL Scholarships are given out annually.
