HZB International Summer Program 2026, Germany (Fully Funded)

Are you prepared to spend a memorable summer in Germany? The HZB International Summer Program 2026, a fully financed eight-week research opportunity in Berlin from July 6 to August 28, 2026, is currently accepting applications.

The program, which is housed at the campuses of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), gives chosen students the opportunity to carry out independent research projects under the guidance of seasoned HZB experts. Participants will work in a global setting at one of Europe’s top research facilities while gaining invaluable practical experience in scientific research.

The finest aspect? IELTS is not required, and there is no application fee. The program is a great chance for young researchers to broaden their academic horizons and discover Germany’s thriving scientific community because it accepts bachelor’s and master’s students from all over the world.

About twenty students are chosen annually to participate in the HZB International Summer Student Program (ISSP), where they will work with professionals, contribute to actual research projects, and get a taste of living in one of the most vibrant cities in Europe.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All nationalities of students are welcome to apply, including those from outside the EU.
  • A relevant field, such as physics, chemistry, material science, structural biology, mathematics, engineering, life sciences, environmental sciences, or a similar discipline, must be a current undergraduate student.
  • At the time of application, a minimum of two years of full-time university study must have been completed.
  • must be available to take part in the program from July 6 to August 28, 2026.
  • Good communication skills in English are essential (IELTS is not necessary).
  • must provide a recommendation letter from a researcher or professor who is acquainted with the candidate’s potential for research and academic achievement.

Benefits:

Regarding Participants from Non-European Nations:

  • €1,900 is the total stipend, which includes lodging, meals, and other costs.

  • €1,000 is the total stipend, which includes lodging, meals, and other costs.

  •  All chosen participants’ housing expenses are fully reimbursed.

  • Official academic transcripts and, if applicable, a degree certificate from completed studies.
  • Copy of a valid passport or national identity card for identification purposes.
  • Letter of reference from a professor or researcher familiar with your academic performance or research work.
