France Chateaubriand Fellowship Program 2026 France (Fully Funded)

The French Embassy in the United States provides funding for the prestigious Chateaubriand Fellowship Program 2026–2027. This program, which was created especially for PhD students enrolled in American universities, gives them the chance to do a large amount of their dissertation research in France for four to nine months. Depending on the selected track, the fellowship encourages work in a variety of subjects, from science and engineering to the humanities and social sciences.

The goal of this program is to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between French and American research institutes. Fellows have access to cutting-edge facilities, professional supervision, and an international research atmosphere while working in prestigious French laboratories, universities, or research institutions. Students acquire fresh insights, hone their cross-cultural academic abilities, and increase the research’s worldwide applicability through intimate interaction with French experts.

The Chateaubriand Fellowship ensures fellows can fully concentrate on their academic work by covering international travel, health insurance, and research-related expenditures in addition to a substantial monthly income. Additionally, the Embassy of France provides access to a wide professional network that links scholars from all fields through conferences, events, and scientific seminars.

Fellows return to the United States with invaluable experience that improves their dissertations, broadens their perspective on academia, and frequently results in long-term collaborations between American and French institutions. For PhD candidates looking for significant international research experience, solid mentoring, and professional development in an internationally renowned academic context, this fellowship is a fantastic opportunity.
