Eligibility Criteria:

  • Formal Qualification: Three to five years of relevant practical experience without formal certification, or a Certificate III or IV in agriculture or a similar field with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • demonstrated expertise in farm management or horticultural operations.
  • It is highly desirable to have prior experience managing onion, potato, and carrot crops.
  • must possess an unrestricted Class C driver’s license.
  • Chemical User Certificate Accreditation is necessary.
  • A forklift license is necessary.
  • An HC (Heavy Combination) license is necessary.

Work and Duties

  • Production Planning: Work with the Farm Manager and Senior Agronomist to plan crop types, quantities, and planting schedules based on weather patterns and market needs to achieve the best yields.
  • Operations Management: Oversee the full crop production process, including soil preparation, planting, seed selection, weeding, thinning, pruning, and harvesting.
  • Quality & Post-Harvest Handling: Supervise inspection, grading, storage, packaging, and shipment of produce; identify defective items and manage proper post-harvest treatments.
  • Agronomy: Lead activities related to fertilizing and pest/weed management; detect and respond promptly to crop diseases, pests, and weeds; monitor water usage, fertilizer application, and chemical treatment.
  • Logistics & Sales: Coordinate the sale, purchase, and delivery of produce; track market trends and adjust production planning to fulfill contract commitments.
  • Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance on farm equipment and ensure upkeep of farm buildings, fencing, and water systems.
  • Administration & Supervision: Maintain farm operation records, manage crop rotations and work schedules, train and oversee assigned staff/contractors, and report any concerns related to safety, quality, or production.
