The Joint Global Health Scholarship Program is being offered to potential students by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in association with Nagasaki University in Japan. Successful applicants will receive a monthly living allowance of ¥200,000 in addition to full tuition reimbursement.
Nagasaki University has a long-standing academic relationship with LSHTM and is well-known throughout the world for its leadership in infectious illness research.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must fulfill the program’s basic entrance criteria.
- At least one of the following must be met in order to be admitted:
- A master’s degree in a field related to the planned course of study is preferred.
- a professional degree in veterinary studies, dentistry, or medicine that is pertinent to the chosen area.
- an equivalent international degree in a related field, or an upper second-class honors degree from a Japanese or UK institution.
- Applicants must show that they have a good aptitude for research.
- Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to collaborate with coworkers from Japan and other countries, as well as work well in multicultural and diverse teams.
Benefits:
- Nagasaki University will provide the designated supervisory team with a research grant of up to JPY 2,000,000 annually to cover the costs of PhD research for all accepted candidates.
- With the potential for a one-year extension, this research grant is given for the first two years.
- Additionally, financial assistance for living expenses will be given to the top two or three candidates who scored the highest during the selection process.
- According to prior years, each student will receive a living stipend from Nagasaki University of at least JPY 200,000 per month for the first two years, with a possible one-year extension.
- Regardless of whether the student is based in Nagasaki or London, the stipend amount is set and stays the same.
