Sokendai KEK Summer Student Program 2026 Japan (Fully Funded)

The SOKENDAI KEK Summer Student Program 2026 in Japan is now accepting applications. Both foreign and Japanese students are welcome to apply for this fully financed international research program, which provides a rare chance to obtain practical research experience at one of Japan’s top scientific organizations.

Under the close supervision of seasoned KEK researchers and instructors, chosen participants will work on cutting-edge research projects. With top-notch research facilities in physics and allied fields, KEK (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) runs two sizable campuses in Tsukuba and Tokai.

The eight-week program, which runs from June to August 2026, is entirely supported by SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies).It is intended for undergraduate and graduate students with a variety of scientific and engineering-related backgrounds, and applications are welcome from people of various countries.

Enhancing research skills, gaining exposure to international academia, working with scholars from around the world, and experiencing Japanese research culture are all made possible by this summer program. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Both Japanese and foreign students can enroll in the program.
  • Students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees are welcome to apply.
  • It is not necessary to take the IELTS or any other English language exam.
  • To submit an application, there is no application fee.

Benefits:

  • covering of airfare for travel between Japan and the participant’s home country.
  • For the duration of the program, all lodging costs are paid.
  • A daily allowance of 1,500 yen (per diem) is provided to cover personal costs and meals.
  • Domestic travel expenses between the program site and Haneda or Narita Airport are covered.
