International students who want to study for master’s and doctoral degrees in Korea can apply for fully financed Global Korea Scholarships (GKS) from the Korean government starting in 2026. For chosen applicants, the scholarship covers tuition, a monthly living allowance of 900,000 KRW, airfare, and lodging. There are two ways to apply: the Embassy track (87 students) or the University track (280 students).
As a component of the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP), which provides chances for Bachelor, Master, and PhD studies in Korea, GKS provides financial aid to students from 156 qualified nations. Eligibility Criteria :
- Citizenship: Non-Korean citizenship is required of both candidates and their parents.
- Age Restrictions:
- KGSP-G: Individuals under 40
- KGSP-U: Individuals under 25
- Health: To study in Korea, applicants must be in good physical and mental health.
- Degree prerequisites:
- KGSP-G: A bachelor’s or master’s degree is required.
- KGSP-U: A high school degree is required.
- A cumulative GPA of 80% or above, or its equivalent of 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0, is required of candidates.
