Kyoto University iCeMS Internship 2026, Japan (Fully Funded)

The fully funded Kyoto University iCeMS Internship 2026 in Japan is currently accepting applications from foreign students worldwide. This six-week program gives a rare opportunity to obtain practical research experience in cutting-edge areas of cell and material sciences and is especially tailored for students currently enrolled at universities outside of Japan. The Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study (KUIAS)’s Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) will host the participants, where they will collaborate closely with top academics on active projects.

There is no application cost, and the internship will run from June 30, 2026, until August 6, 2026. Since IELTS and other English proficiency exams are not necessary, students from all around the world can apply. In addition to providing research experience, the program hopes to familiarize participants with the academic setting and research culture of Kyoto University, encouraging them to think about pursuing graduate studies there. In order to improve their scientific and intercultural experiences, chosen interns will also have the chance to participate in seminars, lab presentations, and cultural events.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All nationalities may apply for the iCeMS Internship Program.
  • Candidates must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at a university outside of Japan at the time of application.
  • After finishing the internship, candidates should have at least two semesters left in their undergraduate program.
  • Candidates must exhibit a strong desire to work in an iCeMS laboratory at Kyoto University for graduate study.
  • Cell biology, chemistry, mathematics, materials science, and chemical biology are among the most sought-after academic backgrounds.
