Young African leaders who are dedicated to furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN are supported by the Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship Program. The seventh iteration of this influential program has been established by the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens after multiple successful editions.
With the help of this entirely online scholarship, participants can create and carry out a localized SDG Micro-Project that tackles important issues in their areas. Additionally, scholars gain from interactive seminars on specialized themes, expert-led trainings, and a summer school experience.
The program gives young activists the tools they need to make a lasting difference, including mentorship, global perspectives, and practical skills. Candidates are urged to look through previous SDG Micro-Projects for ideas and direction..
Eligibility Criteria :
- All African adolescents are welcome, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, or color.
- One of the following nations must be their citizenship: Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ethiopia, or Kenya.
- Candidates must be in the age range of 20 to 35.
- At least a bachelor’s degree or higher must have been earned
- should exhibit a strong dedication to global citizenship principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- must possess at least a B2 level of English proficiency (per European criteria).
The Ban Ki-moon Center for Global Citizens (BKMC) is the host organization.

- After the SDG Micro-Project is successfully completed, Ban Ki-moon and Heinz Fischer, co-chairs of the Ban Ki-moon Center for Global Citizens, will sign a Certificate of Achievement.
