Applications are being accepted for a fully funded Master’s scholarship at the University of Wyoming in the United States for the fall of 2026. The award offers a $23,000 yearly stipend, health insurance, and a complete tuition waiver.
The Forest Forensics and Dendroecology Lab is looking for an M.S. student to explore forest recovery and wildfire danger in Wyoming. The student will use LiDAR to create deep learning models of fuel loading and regeneration. The models will then be validated in the field by sampling forests throughout the state.
The chosen applicants will work alongside five other graduate students in Laramie, Wyoming, contributing to a dynamic and creative graduate program while getting practical research experience.

Qualifications Needed:
- a bachelor’s degree in biology, forestry, environmental science, or a similar discipline.
- shown proficiency in R statistical tools for analyzing big datasets.
- outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
Extra Requirements:
- knowledge of handling or evaluating LiDAR data.
- understanding of machine learning and/or deep learning techniques.
- expertise carrying out fieldwork in isolated areas.
- expertise in creating and publishing manuscripts that have undergone peer review.
