Established in 1988, the ADB–Japan Award Program (ADB-JSP) is a distinguished graduate award that is wholly sponsored by the Japanese government. It is run by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and is intended to assist exceptionally gifted students from developing member nations who want to pursue master’s degrees in subjects related to development, such as science and technology, economics, management, and other disciplines that support sustainable development.
About 135 scholarships are given out annually by the program to students enrolled in 27 approved schools in Asia and the Pacific, including 17 in Japan. The scholarship allows students to concentrate entirely on their studies by paying for living expenses, tuition, travel expenses, health insurance, and other associated expenditures.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a national of a developing ADB member nation.
- One cannot be a dual citizen of any industrialized nation.

- After graduating, have at least two years of full-time professional employment experience.
- Exhibit fluency in both written and spoken English.
- At the time of application, you must be at least 35 years old (rare exceptions).
