The goal of the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships 2026 is to promote sustainable development and improve Sub-Saharan African higher education systems. The initiative offers fully funded postgraduate study opportunities at prestigious African universities and is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Tuition costs, an annual stipend of up to €8,920, health insurance, and extra funding for study and research are all covered by the scholarship. With an emphasis on preparing highly skilled workers and future university instructors, it supports both Master’s and PhD degrees.
Through this program, DAAD fosters academic achievement, capacity building, and the formation of capable leaders who can advance development throughout the African continent.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Master’s applications are open to Sub-Saharan African graduates and postgraduates with a first academic degree.
- Candidates must intend to pursue a master’s degree in one of three countries: their native country, their place of residence (In-Country), or another Sub-Saharan African nation (In-Region).
- Applications from women and others from disadvantaged areas or organizations are highly welcomed.
The German government is the host organization (DAAD).
