Japan Government MEXT Scholarship for Undergraduates 2027 | Fully Funded

International students who want to study bachelor’s degrees at Japanese universities can now apply for the 2027 MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship, which is being offered by the Japanese government. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers this esteemed fully sponsored program, which includes overseas travel, a monthly stipend of ¥120,000, and complete tuition coverage. Students from nations with diplomatic links to Japan can use it to study at national universities all throughout the nation. There are two options for candidates to apply: either by nomination from a Japanese institution or by suggestion from a Japanese embassy or diplomatic post in their native country. The program’s objectives are to foster international academic exchange in Japan and support talent from around the world. 

Eligibility Criteria :

  • must be a national of a nation with diplomatic ties to Japan.
  • must have been born on April 2, 2002, or later.
  • 12 years of formal education must be finished or anticipated to be finished by March or August of 2027.
  • To pursue university-level education, one must be sufficiently proficient in either Japanese or English.
  • To study overseas, one must be in good physical and mental health.

Japan is the host nation.

Asia is the study destination.

Scholarships for Undergraduates

All countries are eligible.

Benefits include a fully funded scholarship, a $9,044 yearly living stipend, and a travel allowance.

Benefits :

  • Tuition: All costs are covered.
  • Allowance: 117,000 yen per month, with an additional 2,000–3,000 yen per month for students in locations that have been specifically designated.
  • Education Fees: MEXT pays for all university tuition, matriculation fees, and entrance exam prices.
  • Travel Expenses: MEXT chooses the itinerary and route and covers airfare for both the program’s arrival in Japan and its departure.
