All chosen candidates receive an annual stipend of $17,200 from the University of Cape Town Scholarship, which is renewable for three years. There will be extra money set aside for fieldwork and travel costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will make the scholarship&#8217;s specifics simpler in this post. We will also give a detailed application process, as well as the prerequisites and advantages. Applications are being accepted for scholarships under the DANIDA-funded CLAIMS to Energy Citizenship initiative through the African Centre for Cities (ACC) (2024\u20132028).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the CLAIMS to Energy Citizenship initiative, the ACC has obtained financing for two master&#8217;s scholarships and two PhD places. This project, which consists of three work packages, is focused on energy transitions in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WP1, under the direction of University of Copenhagen professor Karen Waltorp, focuses on activism and common behaviours pertaining to energy access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WP2 at the African Centre for Cities, headed by Dr. Liza Cirolia, focuses on the sub-national state and the energy system transitioning processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of WP3 is to combine knowledge from WP1 and WP2 to create a thorough understanding of infrastructure citizenship that takes into account many stakeholders and scales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A master&#8217;s degree in anthropology, geography, sociology, urban studies, or a similar discipline is required of applicants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates should be willing and able to undertake research in Khayelitsha, as well as have expertise performing field-based ethnographic research in underprivileged urban residential areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must be dedicated to taking part in the project, which includes conducting research to further the organization&#8217;s goals and attending workshops and events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must be able and willing to go to Europe for training and exchange programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in visual or multimodal anthropology, including podcasting, documentary filmmaking, or artistic endeavours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expertise addressing energy-related challenges in the context of South Africa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>proficiency in isiXhosa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Host Country: South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Countries: African Countries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The annual value of the University of Cape Town Scholarship is ZAR 315,000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subject to yearly progress, the award is renewable for a period of three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel and fieldwork expenditures will receive additional money.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: July 19, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africancentreforcities.net\/call-for-applications-phd-scholarship-claims-to-energy-citizenship\/\">Apply Button<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/Is-South-Africa-the-most-beautiful-country-in-Africa\">Image credit<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Applications are being accepted for a graduate program offered by the African Centre for Cities (ACC) through the 2024 University of Cape Town Scholarship.
