According to AERC, professional economists with local training and experience are necessary for sub-Saharan Africa to experience sustained development. Through policy research and graduate training, the Consortium supports the development of economic policy competence in Francophone and Anglophone African countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2024\u20132025 Ph.D. scholarships are now being offered by AERC to deserving candidates from Francophone and Anglophone sub-Saharan African nations. The following universities offer scholarships to students accepted into their AERC Collaborative PhD Programme (CPP) in Economics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>University of Cape Town, South Africa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Benin, Nigeria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>F\u00e9lix Houphouet-Boigny University, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University Cheikh Anta Diop, Senegal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Ibadan, Nigeria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Nairobi, Kenya<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Yaound\u00e9 II, Cameroon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of Pretoria, South Africa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applied to and been accepted into any of the CPP universities on the list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>obtained, from an authorized university, a minimum of a Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a similar discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possess a Master&#8217;s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or similar subjects (including coursework and a thesis component) from an accredited university. The curriculum should cover microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and econometrics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having at least one pertinent publication in a peer-reviewed journal will be beneficial.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An additional benefit will be proof of participation in economic management, research, and\/or training in the public sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We encourage applications from female candidates as well as those from fragile and post-conflict regions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Regions: Francophone and Anglophone sub-Saharan African countries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The goal of the AERC fellowship program is to support the development of a new generation of economists who can make major contributions to research, economic development, and policy-making both inside their home countries and throughout the African continent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The long-term viability and durability of Africa&#8217;s political and economic structures depend heavily on this endeavor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The goal of the fellowship program is to increase the capacity for economic research throughout the continent by offering financial aid to students accepted into different universities&#8217; AERC Collaborative PhD Programs (CPP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: August 31, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/training.aercafrica.org\/admissionnew\">Apply Button<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aercafrica.org\/opportunities\/call-for-applications-eca-fellowship-programme-for-young-african-professionals-2023-2024\/\">Image credit<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>African economic policy research and training are the main goals of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), a public, non-profit organization founded in 1988.
