A six-month annual training program in Iceland with an emphasis on sustainable land management and land restoration is provided by the UNESCO Land Restoration Fellowship. Two fellows from African biosphere reserves who are actively involved in restoration efforts are eligible to apply for this program, which is hosted by the Agricultural University of Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is broken up into two sections: individual project work based on the Fellow’s background in both academics and practical takes place in the last twelve weeks, while coursework, field trips, and practical training occupy the first twelve weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing the program satisfactorily, fellows are awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Land Management and Ecosystem Restoration (30 ECTS). The fellowship pays for living expenses for the six-month stay in Iceland, as well as tuition, travel and health insurance charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
