For overseas students seeking Master’s or PhD degrees in the US, the Louisiana State University (LSU) Scholarship offers a fully supported opportunity. Selected candidates will work as Graduate Research Assistants, earning full tuition reimbursement, health benefits, and an annual compensation of $31,000. One PhD or MS assistantship under Dr. Kaelyn Fogelman is open in the School of Renewable Natural Resources beginning in January or May 2026. The study focuses on the responses of aquatic animals to environmental stressors, with a particular emphasis on crayfish and mussels. Students will travel around Louisiana and the Southeast region of the United States to perform fieldwork and lab-based experiments. They will acquire useful abilities in laboratory analysis, animal care, aquaculture, experimental design, and stakeholder collaboration.
Eligibility Criteria :
- A bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, zoology, aquatic biology, or a similar field
- Experience conducting research in field and/or laboratory settings
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- demonstrated capacity to operate both independently and cooperatively
- A current U.S. driver’s license, or the capacity to get one within 60 days of beginning
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 overall or 3.5 during the previous 60 hours of coursework
- Although not required, GRE scores are desirable.
- Willingness to travel overnight and do fieldwork under difficult environmental circumstances
