For exceptional international PhD candidates, the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics and Freie Universität Berlin jointly run the International Max Planck Research School for Biology and Computation (IMPRS-BAC), which is now giving two fully supported DAAD-GSSP Scholarships. Through its Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funds these esteemed scholarships, which offer up to four years of full financial support, including a monthly stipend, health insurance, and possible travel or research allowances.
IMPRS-BAC is a top-tier graduate school that combines knowledge of advanced biological research, data science, computational biology, and molecular genetics. The program’s goal is to develop the next generation of scientists who can connect computational and experimental methods. Interdisciplinary research projects, state-of-the-art lab facilities, organized curriculum, and access to cutting-edge genomics and bioinformatics tools are all advantageous to doctoral applicants.
Accepted students will collaborate closely with top academics from Freie Universität Berlin and the Max Planck Institute. They will get the chance to present their research at conferences, take part in workshops, seminars, and retreats, and be a part of a global scientific community. Berlin provides access to one of Europe’s most dynamic scientific ecosystems as well as a diversified cultural environment for those who live and study there.
For highly motivated graduates who wish to pursue a PhD at the nexus of biology and computation while receiving outstanding training and mentorship in one of Germany’s most robust research networks, this fellowship is a fantastic opportunity.
