The James Buchanan Fellowship 2026, a fully funded, one-year fellowship held at George Mason University in Virginia, USA, is currently accepting applications. All countries and academic backgrounds are welcome to apply for the fellowship, with an emphasis on early-career academics who have just finished their doctorates. Fellows are encouraged by the program to study political economy, especially Adam Smith’s theories and those of the Austrian, Virginia, and Bloomington schools of thought. The Virginia School of Political Economy was founded by James M. Buchanan Jr. and studies the interplay of law, politics, and economics. All significant costs, such as lodging, stipend, and airfare, are covered by the fellowship.
