Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Taiwan Fellowship 2027 | Fully Funded

The 2027 Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Taiwan Fellowship, a distinguished, fully funded program for foreign academics and scholars, is currently accepting applications.

Advanced research on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific area, and Sinology is supported by the fellowship. Starting in January 2027, researchers, professors, PhD candidates, and students are permitted to do research at Taiwanese institutions for three to twelve months.

A monthly stipend, round-trip economy airfare, and accident insurance coverage are just a few of the program’s attractive features. Additionally, it encourages cooperation and scholarly interaction between Taiwanese and foreign academics.

Over 1,500 scholars from 93 countries have benefited from the fellowship since its inception.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Applications are open to international professors, associate professors, assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, doctorate candidates, and PhD students from foreign universities or comparable academic institutions.
  • Scholars and research fellows from reputable overseas universities may also apply.
  • Applications are encouraged from candidates suggested by ROC (Taiwan) abroad embassies, especially in fields pertaining to Taiwan’s international relations or cross-strait ties. Candidates must be available to participate in the fellowship for a duration of three to twelve months.
  • Those who are studying, teaching, or doing research in Taiwan at the moment are not qualified.
  • During the program, fellows are not eligible to receive additional grants or scholarships from Taiwanese academic institutions or government organizations.
  • Part-time work is not allowed without MOFA’s prior clearance.
  • The winner is responsible for covering any additional costs above the fellowship funding.

Benefits :

  • At the start of every month, fellows are given a stipend.
  • Each month, NT$60,000 will be given to professors, associate professors, research fellows, and associate research fellows.
  • NT$50,000 will be given each month to assistant professors, assistant research fellows, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, PhD students, and applicants suggested by ROC (Taiwan) missions.
  • Additionally, a round-trip economy class airline subsidy to Taiwan will be given to selected fellows.
  • Medical coverage for unintentional injuries is included in accident insurance.
  • Up to NT$1 million in insurance coverage is offered.
  • The fellowship might last anywhere from three to twelve months.
