The Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) for the 2024–2025 academic year is proudly announced by Swansea University. International applicants for PhD and Professional Doctorate programs in the humanities and social sciences who have excelled academically are eligible for this coveted grant. For the course of the program, the scholarship pays the difference between the tuition fees charged abroad and at home, enabling selected students to pay fees at the UK rate, which is presently £4,786 for 2024–2025.
Ancient History, Classics, Development Studies, Egyptology, Philosophy, Politics and International Relations, Social Policy, and Sociology are among the subjects that qualify. Candidates must be enrolled as an international student, have a first-class or 2:1 UK undergraduate degree (or an equivalent international qualification), and/or a distinction in a UK master’s degree (or an international equivalent).

Eligibility Criteria:
- be admitted to Swansea University’s Professional Doctorate or PhD program. Programs in the humanities and social sciences that qualify include:
- PhDs in applied linguistics, classics, development studies, Egyptology, philosophy, politics and international relations, social policy, and sociology, among other subjects, include ancient history, PhD
- possess or anticipate earning a first-class or upper second-class UK undergraduate degree (or a comparable international qualification) and/or a UK master’s degree with distinction (or a comparable international qualification).
- be regarded as an international student and be in charge of paying the international tuition at Swansea University.
- Show outstanding academic merit above and above the minimal prerequisites for the selected program.
Benefits:
- Coverage for Tuition Fees: Throughout the term of your PhD or Professional Doctorate program, the SUIPRES Scholarship will pay the difference in tuition between international and UK universities. The annual tuition fee rate for the UK, which is £4,786 for the 2024–2025 academic year, will be paid by the selected winners. According to UKRI laws, this amount is subject to annual increases, which are normally around 3%.
- Scholarship Application: Your tuition payments will be immediately reduced by the scholarship amount. Candidates must show that they have enough money to pay for their program’s living expenses and any outstanding tuition.
