Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must either successfully finish all PhD requirements by December 31, 2025, or have their PhD conferred on or after January 1, 2023.
- Although the foundation’s governors may make an exception, fellows are required to live in Forrest Hall for the duration of their fellowship.
- In order to accept the Forrest Fellowship, chosen applicants need to:
- have obtained and accepted a job offer from a university in Western Australia. The employment contract will be issued by the Forrest Foundation in coordination with the designated university.
- get their doctorate formally conferred before starting their fellowship.
- Within a year of receiving the fellowship, begin working at the appropriate university.
- Send yearly success reports to the Minderoo Foundation’s director and the director of the Forrest Research Foundation.
Benefits:
- Pay: Pay commensurate with a position A Step 8 appointment (for example, $108,362 for this position at the University of Western Australia in 2025) plus 17% superannuation.
- Accommodation Allowance: $25,116 per year as an accommodation allowance in 2025 (subject to marginal tax rates).
- Allowance for Research and Travel: $12,000 one-time funding for authorized research costs, such as conference travel and study abroad.
- Allowance for Relocation: Fellows from other states and abroad may apply for a relocation allowance, which covers the cost of an economy ticket to Perth. Following a successful selection, the director can share specifics.
- Extra Duties: It is anticipated that Forrest Fellows will support the objectives of the Foundation by serving as mentors, ambassadors, and leaders for Forrest Scholars, Forrest Hall, and the Forrest Research Foundation.
