Applications are now open for the World Press Institute Fellowship 2026 in the USA, a fully funded opportunity for talented and passionate journalists worldwide. This prestigious fellowship aims to develop future media leaders by offering deep exposure to the American democratic system, press freedom, and journalistic best practices. Fellows will engage with leading media professionals, policymakers, and experts while traveling across the United States, including Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The program provides hands-on insight into modern journalism, media accountability, and emerging business models in the news industry. Participants will also explore U.S. culture, history, and social, political, and economic issues while building a strong professional network. Established in 1961, the WPI Fellowship continues to strengthen global journalism and media leadership.
Eligibility Criteria :
- All nationalities are welcome to apply.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in print, broadcast, or internet journalism
- must be employed outside of the US as a non-US journalist at the moment.
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in English
- demonstrated enthusiasm and capacity for leadership in the field of journalism
- Capacity to collaborate well in multicultural teams
- Willingness to go throughout the fellowship
- dedication to returning home after the training is over
