Based on academic merit, the University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarship (MGRS) provides fully financed opportunities for both domestic and international students. Full tuition fees, a living allowance of AUD $39,500 annually, and a relocation stipend of AUD $3,000 are all covered by the scholarship.
High-achieving students pursuing graduate research degrees at the University of Melbourne are eligible to apply for these scholarships, which include the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and the old Melbourne International Research Scholarship (MIRS).

- Tuition Coverage: Master’s by Research students receive a full tuition reimbursement for up to two years, while doctoral students receive a full reimbursement for up to four years.
- Living Allowance: $39,500 year (pro rata, 2026 full-time rate) for a maximum of two years for master’s students or three and a half years for doctoral students.
- Students relocating from other Australian states or territories will receive a $2,000 relocation grant, while those relocating from outside Australia would receive a $3,000 grant.
