University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarship 2026, Australia (Fully Funded)

Based on academic merit, the University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarship (MGRS) provides fully financed opportunities for both domestic and international students. Full tuition fees, a living allowance of AUD $39,500 annually, and a relocation stipend of AUD $3,000 are all covered by the scholarship.

High-achieving students pursuing graduate research degrees at the University of Melbourne are eligible to apply for these scholarships, which include the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and the old Melbourne International Research Scholarship (MIRS).

Every year, more than 300 scholarships are given to deserving international students. Candidates are evaluated according to their research potential in their subject of choice and their academic performance in prior degrees. Eligibility Criteria :

  • Eligibility: Must be enrolled in or have applied for and fulfilled the prerequisites for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  • Candidates: Both foreign students and Australian nationals are welcome.

Benefits include a $3,000 relocation award and a fully financed scholarship with an annual stipend of $39,500.

Benefits :

  • Tuition Coverage: Master’s by Research students receive a full tuition reimbursement for up to two years, while doctoral students receive a full reimbursement for up to four years.
  • Living Allowance: $39,500 year (pro rata, 2026 full-time rate) for a maximum of two years for master’s students or three and a half years for doctoral students.
  • Students relocating from other Australian states or territories will receive a $2,000 relocation grant, while those relocating from outside Australia would receive a $3,000 grant.
  • Health Insurance: For foreign students who need a student visa, there is Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership.
